Introduction:
As a medical professor, I am responsible for designing and conducting lectures, evaluating student performance, and providing feedback to improve their understanding of medical concepts. In this paper, I will summarize the patient case study assigned to me, discuss the decisions I recommended, and evaluate whether they were supported by evidence-based literature. Patient Case Study Summary:
The patient case study assigned to me was about a 45-year-old woman with a history of hypertension and type 2 diabetes mellitus. The patient presented with severe abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. After conducting diagnostic tests, it was determined that the patient was suffering from acute pancreatitis caused by gallstones. Based on the patient’s condition, I recommended the following three decisions:

1) Administer pain control medication to manage the patient’s severe abdominal pain.
2) Administer antibiotics to manage the patient’s infection.
3) Perform laparoscopic cholecystectomy surgery to remove the gallstones causing acute pancreatitis.

Evidence-Based Literature Support:
The decisions I recommended for the patient case study were supported by evidence-based literature. According to the American College of Gastroenterology clinical guidelines, the treatment for acute pancreatitis includes pain control medication, antibiotics, and removal of the gallstones causing the condition. Moreover, studies have shown that laparoscopic cholecystectomy surgery is an effective treatment for acute pancreatitis caused by gallstones.

Expected Objectives:
My primary objective with the recommended decisions was to manage the patient’s pain, infection, and underlying condition causing acute pancreatitis. I aimed to provide the patient with prompt relief and improve her overall health.

Difference between Expected and Actual Outcomes:
The actual outcomes of the recommended decisions were consistent with what I had expected. The patient’s pain was controlled effectively, and the infection was managed well with antibiotics. Moreover, the laparoscopic cholecystectomy surgery was successful in removing the gallstones causing acute pancreatitis. The patient showed a significant improvement in her condition, and her overall health improved post-treatment.

Conclusion:
In conclusion, the decisions I recommended for the patient case study were supported by evidence-based literature, and the actual outcomes were consistent with my expectations. The patient’s condition improved significantly post-treatment, and her pain, infection, and underlying condition causing acute pancreatitis were managed well. These decisions were successful in achieving the desired objectives and improving the patient’s overall health.
